i have forgotten password for excel file, i have tried several demo versions of softwares but they dont allow to recover password greater than 3 characters. can anyone suggest any software or way to recover the password. i dont want to purchase any software.

Are you sure there's no other way around this? Is the file protected from opening or from editing? If it's only protected from editing, open it up and copy and paste the information to a new Excel worksheet.

There are shareware programs that crack ms office passwords. You have to pay for most of them.
There may be still be one that will give you the first few letters (until you buy it). That might job your memory. Search for "Password"
Summary: Does anybody know of a free utility for Windows to recover forgotten passwords for document files (*.doc) created in Microsoft Word 2000? I've looked through the archived posts and haven't seen anyth...
