Find Similar Addresses in Access

Good Day,

I have an issue where I need to find (get a count) of similar addresses in an access database. The problem is there are no restrictions on the system that the data comes from. The result is addresses that have apartment numbers (such as 303-101 This Street, 201-101 This St. etc.)

In Excel, I'm able to use formulas to determine where the hyphens are located and use formulas to extract only the Street address. The issue is, this crashes frequently due to the amount of data. The database has 400,000 addresses in it so removing the information manually is not possible.

What I need to do is find all unique civic addresses then from that get the count of the addresses.

I'm fairly new to Access. I'm more of an excel expert.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. This may fit better in the Database Category however options for posting do not show this as an option.

Thank you for reviewing. I have it working now using a right, len and instr formula (AddressMod : Right(Address,Len(address)-instr(Address,"-"))
