Hi all

I have a liitle poblem in opening pdf files.

Wheneve i Open any pdf file it displays an error message:
FILEOPEN INITIALIZATION FALIURE(2)
YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO OPEN PROTECTED DOCUMENTS.

I don't know what to do, howeve it open normal pdf files but it does not open those files which are potected for printing or copying or any other security.

I thought fo once to switch over to foxit reader but still I have this question in my mind that will it be able to open the protected documents.

As even a pdf file is locked fo pinting or copying it still displayes the contents.

But the problem I have referred to is that it does not open protected files at all.

Please advise me on this.

I have uninstalled pdf reader 5 & 6 & reinstalled them several times I even deleted their reg keys still no luck.

A little help will be highly appreciated.

Regards
Naman

I did not find any solution while browsing the Adobe Reader forums but perhaps you could post your question on their forum for a better response.

Otherwise I suspect the documents in question are corrupt in that they were not created correctly with regards to setting their security.

You may also want to upgrade to the latest version of Reader 6.0.1 and tehn from within the application upgrade to 6.0.2 as the instructions show on that same page.

Have you tried opening them on a WinXP machine that has Adobe Reader V7.x?
Perhaps the documents are not compatible with the legacy versions???

Hi Naman.

Are you trying to open them by doubleclicking on the pdf file? I have had a similar problem because I have an older version than some new pdf's were written with. (I am still on Win98 with Reader 5.5)

However I found that if I first open acrobat reader and then go to the menu and use File/Open and work my way to where the pdf file is, it opens fine. Don't ask me why, but it works for me...!! Worth a try.
