2. How do I convert or migrate my current solution to FileMaker Pro 7?
The latest release of FileMaker Pro offers significant new and improved features, including breakthroughs in developer productivity. In order to support these features, it was necessary to change the data file format. As a result, files from previous versions of FileMaker Pro need to be converted to the new FileMaker Pro 7 file format.FileMaker Pro 7 includes many new features and, more significantly, some of the underlying principles have changed. To understand these changes in security, Server model, web publishing, and other areas, we recommend you read the technical briefs on migrating and converting your solutions. These documents, authored by leaders in the FileMaker developer community, provide important information to help you safely and efficiently migrate your current solutions to FileMaker Pro 7.
If you have files based on templates or simple solutions, the conversion process is straightforward—just drop your files on the FileMaker Pro icon to convert them. Refer to the conversion section of the User's Guide for more information.
