Comment:

My gal is doing genealogical research and ends up with ancient documents (.tif & other files; wills and such from the 18th century) which, in original size, are too tiny to read. These things need to be blown up to larger size, and printed in the expanded size, in sections (because the whole document, expanded, would be far too big for the printer.)

Can this be done in Imaging or similar Windows software, or must we move to more specialized software?

Thanks very much.

No need to purchase any specialist software, you could do it in Word:
Open a new doc
Pull the margins right out to get the largest useable space that you can (you might want to save this as a blank doc called 0margins or similar, for future use)
Go into View>Toolbars and check Picture
Insert the picture
Select it
Grab a corner and stretch the pic as big as will fit on the page
Go to the toolbar, get the cropping tool
Crop a side, or top or bottom as you wish, to slice it into the size of chunk that you want
Grab a corner again and pull it back out to the largest size you can fit on the page
Repeat the cropping and expanding as many times as necessary till you have worked through the whole image and pulled out chunks and printed them one at a time.
It sounds messy but it really doesn't take long and unless someone puts forward a more elegant method, give it a try - it'll do what you want to do!
Hope this helps!

Thanks, CW.

Would that work in Wordperfect the same way?
