Hi there,
I'm trying to find a formula that will enter text into a cell if one of 156 choices is met in the first cell.
Example: I enter the word Fool into a cell and I want it to find the description of the fool, than place the information on the fool into the cell beside the word fool. Like a dictionary look up with 156 words used. Is this possible? Please help me!
Thanks in advance.

Yes it is quite possible and quite simple too.

Use the VLookup formula.

Lets say that in Sheet2 you have your 156 words in column A1:A156 and their descriptions in Column B1:B156.

Then in Sheet1 A1 is named "Word" and B1 is named Description.

In B2 use the VLookup formula:
=VLOOKUP(A2,Sheet2!$A$2:$B$156,2,FALSE)

This says lookup what is in A2 on Sheet2 from A2:B156 and return the value of Column B next to that value and only if it is an exact match.

VLookup is one of the best formulas offered in Excel.
