Forgive nube/duh-ness, does anyone know what causes Excel 2003's workbooks no longer come to the front (when other windows are open in front of it)?
It doesn't matter what kind of an open window is in front (Webpage, Word, text, etc., ), just about the only thing bringing it to front is clicking on the workbook's right lower corner.
Odd, as it used to be that clicking anywhere on a partly exposed workbook would bring it to front.
Nothing else on desktop acts that way, just Excel workbook windows.

Just found one other spot that will bring it to front, anywhere at top edge of its window.
I swear it used to be clicking anywhere on any window brought them to front, except maybe the "x" button.

I gotta ask...
Have you restarted the system recently?
That's always the first thing to try when things start acting wierd.

Thanks for replying. No matter how many times I re-boot, it still acts that way.
Maybe I just never noticed workbook windows acting this way, and that's 'normal' for them to come to front by clicking only in very specific spots?

Also, just noticed more weirdness because while it still refuses to come to front, it will scroll!

No, that is not normal for Excel.
The only other thing I can offer is that some programs offer an "always on top" option which would prevent any other app from becoming the top most window. That would mean that all of the apps you had open would have to have this feature..but of course that would prevent Excel from *ever* becoming the top window, regardless of where you clicked, so...
ya got me!

Thanks for replying.
One of the 1st things I checked was task mgr's priority settings for everythng.
Still no change even when re-setting Excel's priority to "lower than normal".
Seems I'll just have to live with yet another minor annoyance, re; avoiding bigger one (re-installing Office, not).

I meant 'above normal' priority, but for the hailbut, I tried 'below normal' too.
And all processes I run have normal priority settings except winlogon.exe and csrss.exe, (assume default at high).
