Hi,
I was working in Excel (Office 2000 Pro) when the electicity died. Now Excel won't work. I've tried uninstalling/reinstalling, i've tried the repair function but nothing works. All other Office programs work fine. It starts to open, you get to the initial pop-up screen that says Excel with the serial number but the it says it encoutered a problem and asks if i want to forward to microsoft. Any ideas what else i can try???
thanks in advance,
beer

Hi beer
I notice your OS is XP with SP2 did you have any other problems before this electricity problem beacause mate it doesn't make sense.
A power outage will not vent it's anger on Excel but the whole sytem don't you agree?
Check out the controversial issues involving SP2 on the main XP forum.
WolfeyOn a hot summers night would you offer your throat to the Wolf with the Red Roses?

Wolfey,
I agree, it shouldn't but I just formatted the drive 2 weeks ago and installed SP2 before Office and it was working fine until the electricity problem. Another weird thing is that the file i was working on has disappeared as well, not corrupted but gone??? I've never seen anything like it and i hate to reformat again after just doing so 2 weeks ago. And another weird thing, after uninstalling Office compeltely, i rebooted and re-installed Office and figured i'd have to reset Outlook to my preferences and import my backup messages and contacts but they were already there??? So the settings are being stored somewhere and i was hoping someone could tell me all i have to do is remove a setting or two in the registry. Looks like i'm going to have to reformat if someone doesn't come up with a magic bullet soon. :o(
thanks for responding,
beer
