hi
just wondering if there was a way to replace the column names A....B....C....etc with myu own names for example age...eye colour....etc

or do i have to just type them in the first row??

I'm pretty sure you can't do this - Excel is a spreadsheet and has references in a cartesian fashion. Access allows you to do this, as it references in a database fashion.

If you are creating a database, then you may find that Access is the right place for it. If you are going to use Excel as a database then you should always remember that it is a spreadsheet application first and foremost.

If you still want to use Excel, then you can hide the Row & Column Headers from Tools... Options... View. So at least they aren't visible, and then yes - type your column headers into row 1 (or go mad and use row 2, if you fancy it!)
