Solved Excel / Office 2010 compatability to Excel / Office 2013

My question is regarding MS Office, in particular, Excel 2010 and Excel 2013

Our small business is currently using MS Office 2010.

One of our guys who's job is to prepare data in Primavera wants to test Primavera in Excel 2013.

My questions are:
If I install Excel 2013 on his computer, will it show up as a separate entry in Programs and Features?
If the testing with Primavera is completed and I want to remove Excel 2013 from the computer, will that affect the existing MS Office 2010 install on the computer?
Will current MS Office data be affected by Excel 2013 being removed?

As these are two seperate applications, yes you can install office 2013 on the same machine as 2010 as a side by side installation, it will appear as a seperate entry within Programs and Features, so yes you can uninstall it at a later date.

In my experience, I have had multiple versions of Office on my computer. I ran 2007 and 2010 side by side for about a month so I could test a few things. Everything worked fine. The only problem you may run into is trying to open a document by double clicking on it and it opening in the wrong version of Office. To fix that issue you can just change your default programs.

Removing one version or the other or even both will leave all of your documents and the remaining version completely intact. You may lose some of your preferences if you remove the version you want to keep and re-install it(like button locations and settings) but it will not affect your documents, spreadsheets etc.

Hope that makes sense!

On the other hand, I ran both 2003 and 2010 for a while and I had numerous problems.

Since I use a Personal macro work book, there was often "confusion" as to which application was using which Personal macro workbook. It caused some strange interactions between the 2 versions.

I also had issues with some office apps going through an install process whenever I tried to open them due to registration conflicts.

Bottom line, here's what MS says at the link below:

You can install and use more than one version of Microsoft Office on a single
computer. For example, you can install and use both Microsoft Office 2013 and
Microsoft Office 2010 on the same computer. However, we do not recommend this.

You might want to start here and click on some of the other version links to match your exact situation.
