Excel issue - need to add text in front of a number

January 4, 2012 at 17:01:29
Specs: Windows 7

I NEED TO ADD THE TEXT "YT" IN FRONT OF A PART NUMBER IN A DIFFERENT COLUMN. EXAMPLE, I HAVE 284 DIFFERENT PART NUMBERS IN A COLUMN. IN ORDER TO VLOOKUP THESE PARTS TO REFERENCE, I NEED TO ADD THE TEXT "YT" IN FRONT OF THEM. IS THERE A FORMULA TO DO THAT OR WILL I HAVE TO MANUALLY ADD IT?

Just use the Excel Concatenate Function or the Concatenate Symbol:

If your part number is in cell A1 then:

="YT"&A1

OR

=CONCATENATE("YT",A1)
