im trying to find a formula which if i put a '1' in a cell the title of the row and column related to it is shown in the cell im typing the formula into! any ideas greatly appreciated.

First, you can't type a number into a cell that contains a formula and get anything other than the number because you will be replacing the formula with whatever you enter into the cell.
However, you could put the number in one cell and have a formula in a nearby cell refer to the cell that contains the number and return a value.
That said, I don't understand what you mean by "the title of the row and column related to it. Related to what?

Hi,
Did you mean that if you place a 1 in a cell, it should be replaced by text from cells in Column A and Row 1.
If H1 contains "Column H title"
and A8 contains "Row 8 title"then if you put 1 in cell H8 you get
"Column H title Row 8 title"The only way to do this is with a macro. As DerbyDad03 said, if you put 1 in a cell, it will show 1 and any formula in it will have been replaced.
If this is what you want, a short macro will do it.
Regards
