i was wondering if there is a way to insert a figure, eg a 0, in front of numbers in excel. i have a column of account numbers like 12345-12, i need to change all the account numbers in the specific column to 012345-12. any help anyone?

Select the cell(s) or columns(s)
Right-click, format cells
On the Number tab, choose the "Custom" category from the list

Enter a type of 0#####-##
or you might even want to use 000000-00
