Excel file unreadable??

just few days ago i updated and saved my excel file which i regularly do with no problem. but all of a sudden today when i opened the same file, it all displayed a strange and unreadable characters.
how do i correct this please?

Sounds like your file has become corrupt, do you have a backup available to revert to?
