When trying to open a shared-workbook, I receive the above error message "Excel caused an invalid page fault in module MSO9.DLL." I've tried mostly all of Microsoft's recommendations: "Renaming the mso9.dll to .old and then repairing errors in Office".."placing service release 1/1a".."Renaming the excel toolbar--this seems like a possible solution, b/c I am able to open the file in safe mode, but it will not open after renaming the toolbar to .old" I have even tried uninstalling/reinstalling Office 2k completely. I am still not able to find a solution to this problem. I would appreciate any advice on having this issue resolved.

ur shared book is running everywhere on w98 and on the same office release? If u open it in safe mode and register with another name, does it the same? Does it the same with all shared books?

The shared book is used by a group of only 5 users. I'm not certain if all users are on the same Office release version...some may have SR1a, some may not. I haven't renamed the workbook b/c I wanted to fix this problem. The problem is local to the specific PC. The way i've been getting around this problem is by configuring a different PC for the user and then they are able to access the spreadsheet again. I want to nail the source of the problem instead of just going around this work around.

Checked about macro/protect (if macros in ur book of course...)? cz maybe there's a specific macro button added in it. Ur talking about toolbar : which one did u removed to have it run in safe mode, or did u only restored default toolbars? can also search for a external link (to another apply or workbook...?).Removed xl and reinstall it ? no other idea.keep searching on my own.
