Excel drop down list results

Specs: Windows 7
I am creating a spreadsheet for profit calculation, on excel 2007. I have created a drop down list, however above the list is another cell, in this cell I would like a figure to be displayed that related to the option. For example if I select larger letter from the drop down menu £0.46 should appear the box above as this is the postage cost. Any advice on how to do this?

Read the Excel help files on VLOOKUP and see if that fits your needs.

You would set up a 2 column table with the list of options from the drop down in the first column and the corresponding value (e.g. £0.46) in the second column.

You would then use VLOOKUP to look up the value chosen in the drop down and return its corresponding value.

The first column of that table could (should) be the same list that populates the drop down to ensure an exact match.
