Specs: Windows Server 2003
Hi guys,

I have a date in Excel as 01/01/2009 and need to convert it into the following for SQL server 2005

yyyymmdd 00:00:00

The 00:00:00 does not need to be converted but it needs to be set to 00:00:00.

Anyone know how to do this?

Have you tried a custom format of:

yyyymmdd "00:00:00"

I have tried messing about with the custom format options, but whatever I select it just reverts back to how it is at present.

Which format do I use? In the list there are a few custom ones, but none are in the format yyyymmdd 00:00:00

And thanks for the reply.

Then create your own.

On the tool bar:

Scroll down to Custom
There should be a small input area under the word 'Type:'
Just enter the year format yyyy/mm/dd
Press enter
Press OK

Mike is close except that you need to type (or Copy/Paste) the format I suggested, including the quotes.

yyyymmdd "00:00:00"

Thanks guys...

I had to use the DATE function first as the values were in text and then I used Format Cell > Custom > then just typed in the values I wanted I.E yyyymmdd 00:00:00

Thanks again.
