Excel Data Validation: The following Formula will determine if the data entered into a cell (D3) is a Capital "Y". If so it will allow it, otherwise report an error.

=EXACT(D3, UPPER("Y"))

That part of the Formula works fine, although I can't figure out how to add an additional element which will be accepted by data validation.

The additional data element to be accepted into the cell is a Capital "H"

So basically the code will either accept a Captial "Y" OR Capital "H" into cell D3.

I'm thinking an OR statement is the way to go, but can't figure out how to incorporate it into the above formula?

Hi, Try this:

=OR(EXACT(D3,"H"),EXACT(D3,"Y"))Regards

PS I don't think that UPPER() is required.

Fantastic. Thanks a lot. Now that I've seen your correct formula, it all seems so simple!!!

Hi, You're welcome.

I served my time struggling through these formulas as well !!!

Regards
