I have a spreadsheet that has a lot of formulas and validations in it. The formulas are simple =if(or(....)) statements. I would say there would need to be 50 or so. The if statements work fine but on saving I am presented with the following error message:
Excel could not save all the data and formatting you recently added to the name.xls
To return to your workbook without saving click CANCEL
if you want to continue saving changes without repairing the problem , Click OK.There is a HELP button as well as OK and CANCEL.
Clicking HELP displays a blank HELP screen! Lots of help there thanks micro$oft!
Does anyone know what this error means and away around the problem?
Thanks in advance
Rory.

Not sure if this is it but have a look at it.
XL: Error Message: Too Many Different Cell Formats
Regards,
Bryan

I have several Excel files with more than 25,000 formulas in them and rarely have a problem, so the amount is not your glitch.
Try "Save As", and modify the name slightly (name2.xls), now you have 2 files (original and modified). In the event that the newer one has major flaws, you still have the original to work from again.

This is why i'm getting that error message as stated on support.microsoft.com
This error message appears when you have applied conditional formatting to more than 2,050 rows. This is a limitation in the way that Excel saves information about your file.
