Excel autofit

Using Excel 2003.
I have some rows in various Excel spreadsheets that do not autofit their height correctly.
Autofit gets the height correct in most rows. But a few rows are either too tall with extra white space at the top and bottom. Or not tall enough, with some of the lines of text not showing or only partially showing.
What's the trick to get autofit to work for all rows?

Highlight the rows, Tools, row, autofit.

That's what I do, and it works for most rows.
But some rows, as noted in my initial posting, do not autofit properly. They are either too tall or not tall enough.
The rows that do not autofit properly all have text in them.
What's the trick to get autofit to work for ALL of the rows rather than most of them?

I would go to those rows and check to see that the formating for those rows wasn't set to something else previously.
If the alignment or word wrap was set to another setting it may keep you from changing the cell or row properties enmasse.
