my new laptop windows 9 excel 2010 will not open excel 2007 files sent to me on email. It shows them as compressed files, and won't extract a viewable format. I do not have this problem with excel 97-03 files. What can I do from my end to enable being able to see an excel 2007?
Are these 2007 files coming from the same user or are you having problems with files sent from multiple users? Have you tried to open these files on another system - using the same email app?
I see no reason that you should have to "configure" 2010 to open 2007 files so I'm looking for a problem related to the files and/or the source.

Hi, the problem comes from any excel xp created docs from any source with file ext of xlsx. If the sender re-saves his xlsx as an excel 97-03 excel, I can open it just fine, but I am embarrassed to keep asking them to do that.
