Solved Excel 2003 Won't paste formula in dest cell

Microsoft Excel 2003 (full product)
May 14, 2012 at 09:10:07
Specs: Windows XP
Copy/paste places result of source cell not the relative formula in the destination cell. So if I put the valus 2 in cell A1 and the formula =A1*12 in cell B1. The value 24 is displayed in B1. When I enter the value 3 in A2 and do a simple copy paste of B1 to B2, I expect the formula displaded in B2 to be =A2*12, and the resultant displayed to be 36. It used to work, but something got screwed up. Help!

Under the Tools selection, check your Options menus, something may have gotten changed.

After goining thru all the Options nothing seems obvious, so I used the Detect & Repair selection under the Help menu. Selected Discard my customized setting and restore defaults. This did the trick and Excel now works properly.
