What I want to do is this; within excel 2003, let's say that I have a column of words on the left and I would like to create or insert a kind of function (action) key that acts like a drop down list to the right of any of the words. Once the button is pressed, it will allow me to pick and choose certain alpha and or numerical items.I would also like to be able to have a button, that when pressed will open a list of items that I would be able to either Add, Delete or Save As. I am not sure if these are called macros. Can someone help me find out what these functions are called and where I can learn how to do these things?

Thanks to All

It's not totally clear what you want to do, especially the second part. You may or may not need macros for the first part and I am pretty sure you will need one or more for the second part. Use Help to investigate forms. Go to View/Toolbars/Forms to see the tools available. You want to use a ListBox or perhaps a ComboBox. Also, press Alt + F11 to open the macro editor and use the Help there to learn more about macros. It's a big plus if you have some programming skills already. Click on insert UserForm and another window will open showing you some of the tools available to you for forms+macros. They are similar but different from the other tools previously mentioned.

Thanks Grok. What I discovered is that I have a program on my computer called Access. I think as I look through it, it may offer me the kind of function that I am looking for.
Thanks again.

Access would have been my suggestion from the start.
