Excel 2003 auto fit problem

November 3, 2010 at 20:22:06
Specs: Windows XP
In EXcel 2003 if a cell is formatted to Wraptext and Autofit and the data in the cell is decreased in size, the cell height should be reduced accordingly. BUt when the row height is autofitted, the row height is to height leaving extra space either at the top of the row, at the bottom of the row, or between lines, depending on wether it is formatted to locate the data in the top of the cell, bottom of the cell, or distributed. Is there a solution to this probelm?

The auto fit feature only works on cells that are not merged with any other cells....I don't know why, it is really rather stupid. But, check to see if the cells you are having trouble with are merged. If you can figure out a way to make your document work without having merged cells, it should work well, otherwise you may just have to manually adjust the rows after the content is added.
