Excel 2000 hang time

We've been experiencing hang time on excel when we try opening a spreadsheet from the network. The spreadsheet can be any size it when this occurs and it can be anytime of the day. We are sure if it's a network issue we are dealing with or the application itself. Any suggestion?

Assuming you meant you "aren't" sure if it's a network issue, I'd copy the file to the local drive and open from there. Life is more painless for those who are brainless.

Thanks for the info Jennifer. That's pretty much what we have people doing but it's just a work-around. Any other suggestions?
