Comment:

When opening Excel 2000, I get the errors: "Cannot use object linking and embedding"
and then "An error occurred initializing the VBA libraries (14)". The program then crashes. This happens both when I double click on .xls files, or open the excel .exe file. Any ideas?

Thanks.

I would guess that you are accessing an Add-in upon opening Excel.

To check go to Tools, Add-ins and deselect any that are checked.

And then go to Windows Explorer, navigate to:
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office\STARTUP or Office\XLStart
(I am presently on a Win98/Office 97 machine so it may be a little different)
move or remove any .xla files from there.

Alternately you could check in Excel Tools, Macros, Security (I think that is where it is located in 2K) to make sure it is not set on High.
