Eudora email programme, download
Name: doghead Date: March 15, 2007 at 11:25:18 Pacific OS: W98se CPU/Ram: P3/1000
Comment:
Eudora is being discontinued, and a lot of the source code is being released. Mozilla [Firefox] is going to enhance its email client, Thunderbird, with Eudora features.
As a last sale, Eudora 7.1 is available as a download, and Eudora 6.2 is available on a CD ROM. 7.1 is NOT available on disk. Well, can I not buy the 7.1 download and download it to a CD when it arrives? If I buy the download and put it on my hard drive, am I not out of luck when I get a new computer? That redundancy is what I'm trying to avoid.

If you download 7.1, you can store the executable on a CD if you wish.

Thank you.
Should I download directly to the CD, or does it matter?

In Win 98, you can't copy or download to a CD. You'll need to download the file, save it on your desktop, or in a folder, and then use your Burning software to burn to a CD.

You're welcome. If you install and configure Eudora for use, don't forget to backup the folder (Default is C:\Program Files\Qualcomm\Eudora)) periodically. Then, if you get another computer, just install Eudora on that, and you can copy your Eudora folders and files into the new Qualcomm\Eudora folder with no data loss.

While I'm getting all this free advice, I'll ask this: if anyone knows how Eudora 7.1 compares to 6.2. I'm using 6.2.1.2, and I don't need any more bells and whistles that I can think of. I'm wondering if 7.1 uses any more resources than, or is any less stable than, 6.2.

There was a major change in version 7, indicated by the jump in version number. A few things, indexing, automatically saving passwords, (7.1). 7 isn't bad, but most of my users prefer 6.2.
