Error opening PPT File

I have a rather large PowerPoint PPT file I am trying to open in Office 2003. When I try to open it, the computer says “Power Point can't read the outline. No text converter is installed for this file type.” What does that mean? Is there anyway to restore the file to working condition? This is a challenge posting by CNChallenger.
