This error message appears on inserting a chart in Powerpoint XP

The server application, source file, or item can't be found, or returned an unknown error. You may need to reinstall the server application?

When experiencing problems in Office, I always start with the MSKB.

Are you running Norton Anti-Virus?

Read this:

In addition, I get the same message on my corporate machine every now and then, but we don't run Norton.

However, if I keep trying, it eventually works. Sometimes I have to reboot, sometimes not. I blame it on the MS gremlins.

DAGS your error message. There are lots of hits.
