Comment:

When trying to uninstall Office XP Professional I get the following error "Error 1326. Error getting file security: C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\GetLastError: 5".
I actually first got a version of this error while trying to upgrade to Office 2003, so I decided to uninstall 2003, but got the above error. Uninstalling in safe mode doesn't work.
Any ideas?

You need to use the Office XP Professional Installation CD to uninstall it. After it autoruns the menu will provide the option to Uninstall.

It won't let you uninstall without the CD. I've also disabled Norton. I've tried everything and still get the error.

This was the fix: I ran the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility and then I was able to uninstall Office XP: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301
