I've recently abandoned Outlook Express in favour of Outlook 2002 (using win98se) and am wondering about setting up user profiles for my partner and me. By this I mean two email profiles on the one machine. We don't have seperate user profiles for windows, what I'm trying to do would serve simply to seperate our email. We each have a seperate email address on the same ADSL account. While using Outlook Express, we were able to have our email delivered to seperate profiles, even though they were technically from the same account. OExpress would filter the mail in relation to the alias of the incoming mail address, but I can't see a functionality in Outlook 2002 that will achieve the same result. Am I missing something here, or are we just doomed to receive each other's mail (in which case we'll switch back to Express)?

Go to Control Panel
Profiles
Create a new profile.
Each user will then have his/own pst file and separate contacts/calendar/notes, etc. When executing Outlook, you will be prompted to select the profile you wish to open.

sorry, i didn't explain properly. i've tried that. it seems though, that because the two addresses are on the same account, that outlook isn't differentiating between the two aliases. that is, in my profile i will receive both my email and my partner's and he will receive his and mine. this is even though we have only set up our own email addresses on each profile. for example if his was one@domain.com and mine was two@domain.com, his account - set up to receive mail from one@domain.com - is also receiving mail addressed to two@domain.com.
i've tried to fix this for hours, and i'm convinced that outlook just can't handle this situation. i'd love to be told i'm wrong though!

If you've already created separate profiles in Outlook, and both of you are receiving mail for both accounts, then you don't have your configuration set properly. It sounds like you have both email addresses (accounts) listed in both profiles.
Execute Outlook, selecting your profile, and view the accounts listed. The only on that should be there is the one you're using.
Same for your partner. When he opens Outlook using his profile, the only account listed should be his.

Check under "Tools" "Send/Receive Settings" "Define Send/Receive Groups." If it states "All Accounts" you may want to delete this then add your email account info for your profile and your partner's email account info for his profile.
