i have adobe acrobat 4.0 installed on a workstation, i do not want users to be able to access the internet (even though they have no internet connection), once they get to the screen with "page not working" they can guide there way to the C Drive. I found when u click "Update" or the little "adobe icon" in right hand corner it automatically takes u to the internet. Is there any way of disabling this or maybe making the address bar in IE to grey out???
Forget Microsoft, Go with Linux.

"(even though they have no internet connection)" "it automatically takes u to the internet."
Have you found free internet service through Adobe even without being connected? Is it via sattelite? How fast is the non-connection?
You've got my curiousity.
Otherwise I don't know the answer to your question.

I understand your problem. It's not an issue of users connecting to the Intenet, it's users accessing files they shouldn't.
I think the only way to block stuff like that in Windows is with special software. Even then, you don't make filesystem navigation impossible, you just eliminate known ways of doing it. It's been my experience that there's always a way to subvert these systems. However subtle, the admins always seem to forget something.
Why exactly do you need Acrobat? You can get free, open-source software to view and create PDFs. I doubt the alternatives would have this issue.
