dictionary keeps changing in word02

Hi I searched but don't see this problem. All the settings I can find are set to Canadian, but when I run spell checker it changes to US english. When I click dictionary, only one choice is displayed (custom). It requires selecting canadian english for every 'error' or live with it. I'm using Word 02 and XP. Any ideas? Thanks. Kelly
