Is there any way that I can change the default folder for Word to save and open from My Documents to my network space at school? I have a VERY limited account (no regedit, no cmd prompt) because I am at school so is there any setting in Word I can change?

Never mind, I think I found it in the Word help file...

Just be careful with changing settings on "limited accounts" like the type used at schools and in corporate settings. When I worked for the IT department of a large company a few years ago, we had scripts that performed automatic software installs and profile resets/creation.
Every now and then the users would log on to find that all of their "custom settings" had been reset to the company defaults. It's much easier for the Help Desk to troubleshoot problems when every account looks like every other account.

One more thing to consider...
The default location may be getting backed-up on a regular basis and if you change yours, you might lose that benefit.
Unless, of course, the reason you want to change things is that you are trying to hide something from the powers that be...

By useing following pathway you can change your default folder seeting for m.s. word fils.
MSWord-Tools Menu - Option - File location tab - select file type document then click on modify button & choose your choice folder

The reason I changed it is because I saved everything to my network folder, which is, by the way, backed up regularly by the admins, and not My Documents, which is not backed up and was the regular default. It is the only setting I have changed in MS Word so it's all good! I can change it back if it gets changed! :-)
