Thank you for your response. Great info but, not what I was looking for in this instance. My fault - I should have clarified. I'm dealing with serial numbers in Excel. Does anyone know a way to enter a date into a date-formatted cell so that Excel takes the value as a regular date instead of translating it. For example, I want to enter '020111' and have Excel translate that as '02/01/11' rather than '01/22/1955'. I'm trying to avoid entering the slashes myself.

You can use a Custom Format of:


BUT, you CAN NOT use the result in any type of Date Math.
