Comment:

In Australia we would use the shortform 18/1/08 to indicate 18 January 2008. In Word 2007 it is shown as 1/18/08 which is the US method of indicating the date. I have searched high and low in Word for the means to change this without success.

Can someone offer a suggestion

Yes I did and I searched the "Help and Support" in Vista. I have searched the "Options" in Word but without success.

It's there. I just did it for a test.
If Australia is no listed, use New Zealand.

Coming home from very lonely places, all of us go a little mad: whether from great personal success, or just an all-night drive, we are the sole survivors of a world no one else has ever seen.

Thank you Seawatch... my time preferences are setup correctly and Australia is listed. I can't use New Zealand anyway because it's in a different time zone. The options I can't find are in Word not Vista Time and Date options.

This seems to work.

You have to do the Regional Setting thing first, then the option for your form of short date will show up in Word under English(Australia)

No luck at all... the date remains the same however if I type it it is OK and that's what I'm doing now. It's a minor inconvenience and I'll put up with it. thanks for your help.

Regards.

OK.

Sorry though. I actually changed my Regional settings and then I had the option of English(Australia) whereas I didn't have that option before.

I guess your only choice is to move to the States now! :)
