Custom sort window randomly resize Excel 2007

August 29, 2011 at 13:46:49
Specs: Windows 7
On one of the client machines on my office domain, whenever a user tries to use the custom sort function in Excel 2007, the size of the window will get larger with each sort attempt. after 3-4 sorts, the window is larger than the screen size. Its a minor annoyance, but we are a taxi cab company and our dispatchers sort the sheets fairly often.

Thanks for any pointers.

Do you have any macros behind the workbook?

how are you peforming the sort?

Does the size of the Excel's window increase or does the resolution of Windows itself Increase (actually decrease)??

My end user is using the custom sort function and sorting with headers. THe physical size of the pop-up window that opens when you use the custom sort function randomly increases in size. The windows resolution settings are not being altered in any way. To the best of my knowledge, there are no macros being used on the workbook. I've opened the same file on other machines on our domain and not had this problem.

The machine didn't used to have this problem, but we did change the monitor setup from a single 27" TV/monitor running at 1360x768 resolution to dual 23" monitors running at 1920x1080. It was after changing the monitors that we started having this issue.

Wow this is a good one, i assumed if there was a macro then somehow the macro could be adjusting the sort window or windows resolution.

However if there isnt a macro then im not sure to be honest.

what i would do firstly is check if there are any updates to your graphics card drivers.

If you could possibly provide the spreadsheet or a screen shot of the problem we may get some ideas.
