Think I had a virus. My home page (msn) will not open. Instead I get Lop.com and links to adult sites. I then tried to clean out my hard drive and must have deleted some things by mistake. I cannot open internet games. Says I need "java virtual machine" Where can I get it? Also when I just logged on, my virus scan said that file c:\windows\AUSVC.exe was bad and to delete it, which I did. Now I can't open any of the sites I frequent. Where can I go to redownload these two files? Also when I do get to my home page www.msn.com, on bottom 1/3 of the page has a menu for adult sites. Where did this come from and how can I get rid of it? THanks for your help.

The AUSVC.exe is a trojan virus. Do you have any antivirus software that you go get updates on? To remove the viruse go to

http://securityresponse.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/data/backdoor.autoupder.html

for removal instructions.

I hope this helps.

Thanks for your help. I went to the site you suggested, downloaded it and after 15 minutes it said I had to download it again in safe mode. I got into safemode but can't open my IE. How can I do this? Also how can I download java virtual machine which apparently was deleted from my computer? Can't run any games or go to many sites without this. Thanks again.

How dumb can I be. I just downloaded JAVA. That solved the minor problem. Now to download the fix for the trojan virus and I'll be a happy camper.
