Subject: copying html (?) out of email
OS: WinMe
CPU/Ram: 700MHz/700Mb
Model/Manufacturer: Generic
Comment:
This is about Outlook Express - I do NOT know what the appropriate forum category is for that.
An email I received had IN THE BODY ONLY some text and graphics and animation - I believe it was 'grouped', because selecting it for copying, went from almost the top to almost the bottom. However pasting into WORD2K resulted in only the text appearing (plus spaces). What technique or software is required to capture the entirity of the email content - excluding the technical messages at the top and bottom ?

Basty

You've posted in the correct forum.

If it's not displaying correctly in the email message, copying it won't make a difference.

You should be able to see that information unless you're blocking images and other external content in HTML email. Check that setting on the Security tab in your OE Options.

I can't see anything in the Security tab of Options in O.E.'s Tools menu that is relevant to my problem.

I wonder if you have understood me correctly when you say "If it's not displaying correctly in the email message...." There is no suggestion that there is anything wrong IN the email.

I do not KNOW if it is an HTML email. Because of the 'grouped' content that I listed : Text, graphics, and animation, I thought that HTML might be an appropriate description.

I want to copy the entire content either to a separate file, or paste it into WORD (which would also become a separate file), rather than save the email as an EML, (because the latter would contain a lot of headers etc that I want to exclude).

If I select what I want, click on copy and
paste into WORD, ONLY the text pastes. Maybe I need to paste into Publisher, or an HTML type of WORD document - (or who knows what ?)

Have you tried Copy/Paste Special? What about a screen shot pasted into Word?

I have not - that is a good suggestion. I'll try Copy/Paste Special.

A screen shot would not preserve the animation.
