Folks, I have a user who wants to copy the full path of a file..including the file name.

I've found a program called GetPath, but it allows for only txt, graphic, and exe files.

The Address Bar in Windows Explorer shows the file location, but does not include the file name.

I had another program that worked with NT, and it added a "Copy to Clipboard" option to the right-click menu. Unfortunately, it doesn't work for me in 2000 or XP.

Anyone know of a freeware program, keyboard shortcut, or "Copy to Clipboard" option that will do what my user requests?

Thanks much...

I use a program called Power Desk Pro. It is an alternative to Windows Explorer and has a lot of great features. One of them is the ability to copy path as text.

The full version costs $49 but they have a free version that I beleive will still to the copy path option.

Go here and download Powerdesk 5. Once you have it installed, highlight the file and go to Edit, copy path as text. Then you can paste the full link to any program you choose.

Hi Jenn and Kurt,

You can also open Explorer to the folder containing the file in question.

Open the Start, Run box.

Drag the file to the Run box and it will display the path with the ability to copy it from the Run box.

Regards,
Bryan
(P.S. I don't know why I didn't think of this yesterday when I first saw your post.)
