Comment:

I have a Lotus Approach 97 project that I wish to convert to Excel (files are .apr, .apx and the database file). Is there a conversion program available or a way to convert to SQL then import into excel?

thanks.

I use version 9.5, but rarely does Lotus change anything between versions. They add a lot of new features, but old ones aren't changed.

With the Approach file open, "File\Export Data" brings up the Export window.

Create your "File Name".
Change "Export Type" to *.xls ( almost the last on the list)
Select "Database fields" to export.
Click "Export" button.

Any problems, let me know. Feel free to email me directly. Include the DBF file if your older version doesn't support Export to XLS.

Microsoft does this on purpose to make force you to buy their
Full office package just to be compatible. No one should
have that much trouble opening a file from the same company
and type. You Should not have to install MSWorks to open
and work with it in Excel it should Convert automatically.
You should not have to buy anything other than the new platform
such as Office 2002 and be able to use ANY file at least
from the same company from any past releases to any future release.
You pay one time and stay compatible.

You should not have to pay a third party program... It should exist in Excel all Versions

So.. you MS hackers.. Keep on keeping on!

Microsoft....
