Conflict between Excel and Outlook

I just installed Office 2007. I have a problem opening certain Excel files when Outlook is running.

These files contain DDE links. These links seam to freeze the opening of the file however as soon as I close Outlook it opens instantly.

I tried removing and reinstalling Office.
