From what I understand, you want to get a list of the cells (namesi n ur case) which is common in two different columns. Vlook up should help!

Here is the scenario:
Name Name2
s1-sjhmc-mob-8a-stack1 s1-sjhmc-bni-5a-stack2
s1-sjhmc-anc-ba-stack2 s1-sjhmc-pt-8a-stack2
s1-sjhmc-pt-1a-stack4 s1-sjhmc-mob-8a-stack1
s1-sjhmc-222-3a-stack4 s1-sjhmc-anc-ba-stack2

These are 2 different columns. As you can see there are some duplicate entries in it. I want to highlight the duplicate one's in both columns. Please advice.

Conditional Formatting should work for you.

Assuming your lists are in A1:A4 and B1:B4, try this:

1 - Highlight A1:A4
2 - Format...Conditional Formatting
3 - Under Condition1, choose Formula Is
4 - Paste this into field: =MATCH(A1,$B$1:$B$4,0)
5 - Click Format...Pattern and choose a color

Repeat the steps for B1:B4 using =MATCH(B1,$A$1:$A$4,0)

Note the dollar signs...they are required.
