Solved Changing Outlook POP3 server. No MS Exchange

I'm trying to figure out how I can update the POP3 and SMTP server settings for both Outlook 2000 and Outlook 2003 clients in a non Exchange environment.

I'm probably going to deploy a logon script (via a GPO) to update the registry for all the Outlook 2000 clients, but I cannot find any registry entries relating to POP3 and SMTP for the Outlook 2003 clients.

The suggestion I have come across on the net suggest that I should use an Outlook .PRF file to update the clients. The problem is that the Custom Install Wizard asks for the Exchange server name and doesn't seem to give any option to specify POP3 and SMTP server addresses.

Redeploying the Office 2003 instalation via GPO using a custom MST isn't an option (for various reasons - not being able to pin down just the 2003 clients being one of them)...

Am I missing something obvious here? Is there a quick and simple way using a GPO that I can tell the 2003 clients that their POP3 and SMTP server has changed from ServerA to ServerB ?

Thanks in advance for any guidance!

Solved it.

The entries for the Outlook 2003 POP and SMTP servers are in fact in the registry, but in a binary format.

Getting those updated was a whole other problem though!
