cell formatting problem in excel

My newly installed excel 2003 cannot display the changes to cell formatting, i.e.the color of the word and fill of the cell, but it can display normally the changes to size of the figures. Though it cannot display, but the changes is effective as they can be displayed on other computers. This problem only exists in EXCEL, not WORD. Can anybody tell me how can I deal with that problem?
