How to get following result in Excel?
Col A,B & C has some data. I want to identify coomon data and copy the same into other colum as shown under Result column in this example.A B C D
Model 1 Model 2 Model 3 Result
Bulb Cap Pipe Bulb
Hood Hood Cap Cap
Pipe Bulb Hood Pipe
Table Table Table Hood
Chair Mat Chair Table
Mat Chair Mat Chair
Cap Pipe Bulb MatCan anyone guide?

Ok, I am confused as to what you want.
For example:
A B C D
Model 1 Model 2 Model 3 Result
Bulb Cap Pipe Bulb
Hood Hood Cap Cap
Pipe Bulb Hood Pipe
Table Table Table HoodIn the first row there are no common items but Bulb is listed in your Results column.
In the next row you show Cap being the result yet Hood appears twice.
In your forth row Table appears three times and no other yet your result shows Hood that is clearly not common to the data in that row.
Is there some magic at play or do we need a better example to understand?

Bryco,
Thanx for your repsponse. The first one I could resolve the problem using Data>Adv Filter....
The above example is:
Pl. read column wise & not row-wiseModel 1 is a column, model2 is a colum & so on...
I want the last column "Result" as shown in the above example.
Neville

You're looking for data common to the column but
want the result in a different column? Wouldn't the
bottom of the column make more senese? In your
example you have 3 columns and 7 results. Are you
looking to list the unique values? Reading "column
wise" doesn't make a difference.

I too do not understand the goal.
Can you explain why Bulb appears as the first result in the "Result Column"
In trying to understand the logic it seems that "CAP" should appear first as it is the first value to repeat itself.
Bryan

That will do. I am just trying to separate out common data from each column A, B & C into 'RESULT' coulmn.
Niko

Can I take a punt at this?
Do you mean that you want a list, in the results column, that shows everything that has appeared in the block of data in the previous three columns, but shows it only once?
ie. You want to combine the first three lists, then show the results with no duplicates.
So, if you had:
A B C
x y x
y z x
x x xthen column D would read:
x
y
z
If this isn't what you mean, then I too have to climb onto the "I'm at a total loss as to what you are asking" heap!
Tom

Neville, The Data, Filter, Advanced Filter can be used here too.
Beforehand, copy column B and paste to the bottom of column A and then copy column C and paste it below that.
