can't view saved photos

i was cleaning out some old programs to make room on my hard drive and must have deleted something i should not have. now i can't view some of my saved pictures, i get a message saying format not supported. today i received an e-mail with some pics on hotmail which i can open and view but after i save them to my pictures they won't open. i do not have the windows 2000 disk to reinstall. what do you think i erased??

they vary. jpegs for one but i can open some jpegs but not other ones. they do seem to be ones that have been e-mailed to me.also wpd files but i could go to open with and use word to open them.

Have you tried "restore" ?
If you were able to access photos two weeks ago, just click on that prior date and your PC will give you all the apps you used at that time.
