Can't Reinstall Word on Vista

December 21, 2010 at 13:23:28
Specs: Windows Vista
No my system that Office was on is not running any longer, thanks to a nasty virus. Upgraded to Vista and did a reformat. I am computer illiterate, it took me a day and a half to figure out that my precious WORD was gone. Looked online for help, realized I needed to use the CD's that came with my old computer. Found those, but not the certificates. Called Microsoft, they gave me a CD number but it didn't work. I am at my wit's end. All I want is my WORD back.

Is there anyway I can get into the info on the CD and find the key code, surely it is hidden there somewhere. Tried the recommended website to no avail. All it is showing me is the key codes for Vista.

Is there any other programs that are identical to Word? I have open office but it lacks the "INSERT CITATION" and "Reference" builder.

Too late to ask Santa for help.....

Unfortunately for you the CD key is not embedded in the CD in any way.

You could try abiword

Another one to try is googledocs

You may find more here:

There is a free 60day trial offered on this page. You might be able to use it to meet your urgent needs. I don't know if it is still available:

Hope one of these help.

When everything else fails, read the instructions.
