Subject: Can't reinstall Outlook 2003OS: XPCPU/Ram: 2 GBModel/Manufacturer: HP d46503 |
Comment: This is an ongoing problem from my post 2/15/08 (Outlook 2003 Won't Receive). So far I have tried to repair Outlook, Detect and Repair and changed my server time out. Nothing has solved my receiving. So I uninstalled Outlook and went to reinstall it and it says it requires a CD. I have a recovery drive (D//:) and it should get the application from there, but doesn't seem to want to do that as it keeps asking me for my CD to reload. What can I do?

Reply: (edit)You didn't respond to my last reply in your original post. And you didn't mention if you removed the email account from Outlook and then added it back in. What is located on your "Recovery" Drive? Did you copy the Office 2003 to that location? You'll need the contents of the Office 2003 to reinstall, whether it's from the CD, or another folder to which you copied the files on the CD. Life's more painless for the brainless.

Reply: (edit)Jennifer, I did post an answer, but it came in after Seawatch. The only thing I did was to contact my ISP and they went over the entries and settings for Outlook. My recovery is my D//: (Dual Core HP) which has everything that my computer came with from ther factory when I ordered it. I didn't uninstall Office 2003, I only uninstalled Outlook and I thought I could just go back in and reinstall it, but everytime I try it asK me for the CD and won't go to the D//: to get it like is supposed to do.

Reply: (edit)Normally a Recovery partition is used for Recovery, but doesn't contain the data the way you think it does. Have you searched the Recovery partition for the Office 2003 install folder? If it's not there, you'll have to get the CDs to reinstall. Life's more painless for the brainless.

Reply: (edit)I have tried to get into my recovery partition, but it won't allow me to do anything. However, I did come up with a Office 2003 disk from a friend and have reinstalled Outlook 2003, but it still will not work correctly. This morning I had 12 messages on my webmail and when I closed out webmail and opened Outlook it recognized those 12 messages as incoming messages, but only downloaded 2 of them. I just don't know what is going on.

Reply: (edit)Do you have limitations set as to incoming files sizes? Did you remember to increase the server timeouts? Life's more painless for the brainless.

Reply: (edit)There is no size limitations and I maxed the server time out. I understand that this seems to be a problem with both 2003 and 2007 Office programs. Some have indicated that the problem is with NAV. Even disabling the virus program didn't help, but uninstalling it and reinstalling it corrected the problem. I have ordered my recovery disks from HP and my NAV disk will be with it. I will try to un/reinstall and see what happens and will let you know.
