Can't open Word Document

I created a file in MS-Word (XP) and after exitting from word when I tried to copy it in the CD I noticed some unwanted .tmp files in the folder. I deleted it and then copied the filed onto the CD. Now when I try to open the file from either the Hard Disk or the CD I get the message "The Document name or path is invalid" but the file is very much there and is of size 1.25 MB. Could anyone please help me. It is very urgent. Thanks a lot.
